On the 12th of February, the Work. Live. Leicestershire (WiLL) project and Leicestershire County Council ran a Jobs Fair at Hinckley Library. Approximately 15 organisations were in attendance and 100 people; where locals were given direct access to employment opportunities and support into work.
The WiLL project helps people based in rural Leicestershire who are not currently in work to access jobs, training or education. Led by the charity Vista, the project is delivered in a partnership of 9 organisations and 3 further collaborators.
One such partner is Leicestershire County Council, who run supportive work clubs for job searchers across the county.
WiLL Communications Officer Sarah Boon said:
“Our project already hosts the Hinckley work club here on a Wednesday to help people search for opportunities. However, this event has enabled local candidates and employers to actually connect in a personable and positive way.”
The WiLL project aims to help 500 people in rural Leicestershire before December 2020, through funding from the European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community fund. This includes supporting the development of skills, wellbeing, confidence and social engagement.
The project is currently operating in Hinckley and Bosworth, North West Leicestershire, Melton and Harborough.
