With the aim of making our project as sustainable as possible, the WiLL project has organised a tree planting event. We involved participants to make this a social event as well as a sustainability initiative. It was all made possible by the generous cooperation of National Forestry making this a free event. The tree planting was held at Sence Valley near Coalville, on the afternoon of Thursday 5th March. WiLL staff, participants, a representative of Everyone Active, and a dog, braved the elements and planted a number of trees under instruction from National Forestry. The idea was to offset the carbon footprint of the project, such as the consumption of paperwork, by planting new trees, as an ongoing legacy and as a carbon sink.
When the tree planting was completed, the group returned to Coalville Library, where LCC made a room available, and WiLL provided free, and copious, pizza for all the tree planters.
The WiLL project is supported jointly by funding from from the European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community fund. For more information about the project or future events please call 0116 2498828, email firstname.lastname@example.org or alternatively visit our contact us page.
