The WiLL project at the Market Harborough Carnival 10K Run!

The Work Live Leicestershire (WiLL) project are only too pleased to have supported this year’s Market Harborough Carnival 10K Run.

With the carnival back, after a three-year absence due to the pandemic, a 10K run was arranged that attracted a whopping 449 competitors.

They set off from the starting line at the Symington Recreation Ground, with GB international athlete Gemma Steel completing the course in just 33 minutes and 54 seconds.

She was followed in by men’s winner Kyle Barber, just 10 seconds later, then Daniel Taylor, Louis Veasey, Eleanor Bradbury and Kirsten Hayes.

Those six took home the trophies for first, second and third place in the men’s and women’s categories respectively, but every runner went home with a goodie bag.

That was courtesy of the WiLL project, who provided branded drawstring bags to make up the goodie packs, with additional sponsors also contributing.

The Work Live Leicestershire logo and that of our funders, the National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund, also featured on all of the race bibs.

Check out the video above and the pictures to see how the WiLL project blended in with the action from this Market Harborough Carnival 10K Run.

We have supported and are still working with lots of unemployed people in Market Harborough and our keyworker, Bev, is not only from the town, but a keen runner herself.

Aside from her duties with us, Bev is an event director for the weekly Market Harborough Parkrun event, which takes place at Welland Park.
