Sophie had spent the best part of a decade away from employment before she chose to join the Work Live Leicestershire (WiLL) project.
For 10 years previously, her focus had been on being a stay-at-home mother to two children, who are now growing up fast.
After being referred to the WiLL project through the Market Harborough Jobcentre, Sophie then came under the guidance of Beverley, our keyworker.
Both live in the town and met regularly at the Symington Building - ironically, where the Jobcentre is also based - for their support sessions.
They drew up a personalised action plan, drawing upon Sophie’s strengths and training her to improve upon her weaknesses.
She undertook courses through our learning partner, the WEA (Workers Educational Association) Leicester and Leicestershire.
Two areas of focus included CV writing and interview skills workshops, which led to her applying for vacancies in the Harborough area.
Beverley’s input didn’t end there, as she kept an eye out for local jobs and came across a Case Worker position, serving Market Harborough, Oadby and Wigston MP Neil O’Brien.
She’s now settled into the position and is loving working life again, after making the most of one-to-one input and mentoring from Beverley.
Watch the two go over the journey they experienced together in the video above, which was shot at the Symington Building.
